Kings and Kingdoms

“Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.”
From the Book of Common Prayer

Don’t Grow Weary

“Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”
From the Book of Common Prayer

Unprofitable

“Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.”
The Book of Common Prayer

Undiscovered Biases, Part 2 (MMOW5)

When I accept the role of leader in a group, I also accept the responsibility and accountability that comes with the authority given to me. To want authority without the accountability and responsibility is not leadership. Jesus-led leadership is never assumed but always an answer to an invitation.

Courage for Peacemaking

“Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace to receive thankfully the fruits of his redeeming work, and to follow daily in the blessed steps of his most holy life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.”
The Book of Common Prayer

That First&Last Thing (MMOW4)

The Kingdom-on-earth-as-in-heaven is about all people being equal. There is no status, no rank, no superiority. In God’s Kingdom there is God and all of God’s beloved children. This is the foundation on which forgiveness, mercy, grace, and redemption, as Jesus shows us how to live them, work.

Undiscovered Biases (MMOW2)

In the “Musings of a Middle-aged Ordained Woman” blog posts I want us to explore Jesus-led leadership, whether woman or man. I think we’ve tried (unconsciously or consciously?) too long to lead with power rather than by journeying with others from cooperation to collaboration to communion. I hope you find it helpful. I hope you share it with those you know who want to be Jesus-led leaders. I hope you share your thoughts and experiences with me.
