Jesus’ words are intended to challenge us and provoke us to rethink all that we think we know. Many people, through the centuries to today, decide it’s easier to walk away because the teaching is too difficult, letting a desire for comfort and ease overrule the innate need to be with God.

Interruptions
God is always with us whether we see God at work in this world or we choose not to. When we choose to see God in everyone at all times and in all places, we learn to see through the eyes of compassion as Jesus sees and our worldview is interrupted.
In Contrast
The stories Mark gives us about Jesus’ teaching and ministry are just the beginning of the good news. And we are the continuation of that story; we are still living in God’s story. We are the instruments through which God reveals the Kingdom on earth so that others see a different way to live, the life we are all created to live.
Hometown
Jesus teaches that our roots, our foundation, our citizenship if you will, aren’t to be planted in the institutions of this world but in God’s Kingdom on earth, the Kingdom that Jesus tells us is at hand, right here among us because the Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven IS us.
