Happy Friday, Y’all!

Last summer I began posting on my personal Facebook page short commentaries on the state of our country’s political scene, illustrated by memes that I’d collect all week. I started each one with the phrase “Happy Friday, Y’all!” Despite how bad the week had been in regards to the hate and vitriol being spewed in the political arena, I started with “Happy Friday, Y’all!” It was a cry of hope and resilience.

The joy that bubbles up from that place deep within us that knows we are beloved children of God made in God’s image gives us the strength to face the hate with love. The topics are time specific yet the themes are timeless. The memes I shared each week are lost among the thousands of pictures saved on my phone, but if you’d like to read the posts you can here (they are in newest to oldest order).

Some of y’all have seen the image that I put at the end of some of my blog posts (it’s at the bottom of this one) that shows a heart carved out of a spill of coffee beans with the word “Revolution” with the E, V, O, L (love spelled backwards) in red. I made this graphic in the beginning of this website. We are living in a revolution in which love is our power to overturn the systems that are build on bigotry and misogyny – the systems that say a certain demographic are the ones who should rule over others always. God made us all with God’s image at the core of our being. God never divvied us up by skin color or gender. God says we are all God’ Beloved, all created in love and for love.

This is the point and purpose of my writing, my preaching, my teaching, and speaking, my living – to help us all begin to see how we operate in systems that are counter to God’s Way of Love. I’m writing a book on it (stay tuned!). And I’d appreciate your help so very much. Would you be willing to share this blog and my website with others?

If you subscribe to the blog but haven’t taken a look around my website in a while, I invite you to start here. And check out the new Daily page where I offer help for all of us to make prayer and scripture part of our regular routine.

I invite you to share your thoughts with me. At the bottom of each blog post, there’s a link for comments. I do moderate these, so they may not appear right away but rest assured I will see it and approve it (unless of course you are being mean spirited and then I’ll just delete it. But none of you are mean spirited, right? That’s just counter to all that we are supposed to be as Beloved Children of God and followers of Jesus.).

Anyway, thank you for your time and attention and your support. Keep lovin’ louder than the hate, y’all!
