Conversations with Isaiah

Join me and my friend and colleague The Reverend David Matthews as we read and talk through the writings of the 8th century BCE Prophet Isaiah discovering together what we can learn about life following Jesus in this century.

These stories, inspired by God, written by humans, retold by Jesus and his followers, and preserved by the power of the Holy Spirit, are words of Life as God desires us to live. In an effort to make having a conversation about these writings relevant and comfortable for us all, David and I are sitting in our comfy chairs in our living rooms as we talk about how the first hearers would have heard the words, how Jesus used them in his teachings, and how they inform our life in our time.

So, as we begin our conversation with the Prophet Isaiah, I encourage you to grab a cup of your favorite, get comfortable, and if you’d like to follow along with the reading, your Bible (we are reading from the Common English Bible but use whatever translation you have!).

Invite your friends to join you and y’all have your own conversation! Please comment and ask questions as we all discover together.

I’ve linked the first Isaiah video here and the remainder are found on my YouTube Channel.
